Description

Limited edition single cask no. 566, Hogshead with only 217 bottles ever released. Presented here in original carton.

The Brora distillery was originally established under the name Clynelish over 200 years ago in 1819, by the Marquis of Stafford. It is located near the town of Brora in the Highland region of Sutherlandshire in Scotland. Much later on it’s complicated history two distilleries would occupy the same area, Clynelish and Brora, the former still currently operational while Brora would cease distillation in 1983.

The whisky itself is famed for its auburn appearance, with a distinctive peaty, oily and spicy finish. Brora releases are exceptional in character, highly collectible and all will be sorely missed as the original distillery is no longer in operation. Preparations are being made, however, by the new owners Diageo with an expected opening date to be announced in 2021.

Alas, along with Port Ellen, Brora is now one of the most revered of the “ghost distilleries” in recent Scotch whisky history.
