Description

Karuizawa. The Japanese classic. This single cask is from the golden era of Karuizawa's production phase. This bottle is in the idiosyncratic Karuizawa glassware with wax securing the stopper and as the label suggests, it was bottled by The Daily Dram.

One of only 216 bottles.

Karuizawa was established in 1955 in the foothills of the Asama volcano, a popular tourist destination west of Tokyo.

The small distillery originally produced whisky for the domestic Japanese market for 45 years between 1955 and 2000 when production eventually stopped. Since the early 2000s however, the whisky has gained recognition globally but it won't be long till the last drop of Karuizawa is eventually bottled; less than 300 casks are currently in existence making it a lucrative and extremely hard to find whisky.

Heavily influenced by the local environment and the imported Sherry casks, Karuizawa is rich, aromatic with a distinct profile.
