Glenturret 15 Year Old 2020 Maiden Release

Glenturret know the value of premier refill casks. The Glenturret 15 years old is driven by refill wood where the oak notes step back and allow the original character of the spirit to sing. Delicate notes of citrus fruit and vanilla echo the new make spirit which flowed from the stills all those years ago. This single malt is created with the honesty to allow the spirit to tell its story, gently encouraged by the understated refill casks.

The Glenturret Distillery, founded in 1763, is one of the oldest active distilleries in Scotland. Located deep in the Grampian Mountain Range, the distillery sits beneath Ben Chonzie and two miles north west of the quaint highland village of Crieff. For over 250 years the whisky has used water from nearby Loch Turret; pure and extremely soft in chracter this water is one of the key ingredients in Glenturret's elegant spirit.

After a quiet beginning to the 20th century the distillery was acquired by James Fairlie in 1957 who completed a full refurbshment of the stills and warehouses, bringing back to life over 200 years of Scottish whisky history. James Fairlie was a whisky enthusiast who intended to create a malt whisky using only traditional distilling methods on The Glenturret's single copper pot still. Incidentently the distillery still operates using only one spirit still and one wash still.

Following subsequent purchases by Remy-Cointreau, Edrington, William Grand and Sons the distillery was most recently purchased in 2018 by a shareholder syndicate led by The Lalique Group.

The Glenturret Distillery is steeped in history and the current ownership are doing their utmost to preserve this; in their own words "The Glenturret Distillery has long stood proud at the heart of Scotch Whisky country for centuries. Glenturret have a longstanding relationship with Gordon and Macphail that dates back decades. The whisky produced by Glenturret has always met the high standards G&M set to release whisky under their name.
