Description
Karuizawa is the gold standard for rare Japanese whisky. The distillery closed its doors in 2011, although it had not been producing whisky for over a decade.
This particular whisky from Karuizawa was distilled in 1975, then matured in a sherry butt cask #6736 for 35 years, before being bottled in June 2010 for the Whisky Live 2010. It is presented in an original box with limited number of bottles ever released.

The small distillery originally produced whisky for the domestic Japanese market for 45 years between 1955 and 2000 when production eventually stopped. Since the early 2000s however, the whisky has gained recognition globally but it won't be long till the last drop of Karuizawa is eventually bottled; less than 300 casks are currently in existence making it a lucrative and extremely hard to find whisky.
Heavily influenced by the local environment and the imported Sherry casks, Karuizawa is rich, aromatic with a distinct profile.
